Current funding opportunities

The University Alliance Ruhr provides and supports a broad portfolio of international mobility opportunities across all academic career stages. These include preparatory and bridging formats for prospective students, summer schools and exchange options for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as funded research and teaching stays for doctoral candidates, postdoctoral researchers, and established academics. Through the Liaison Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, these programs are actively promoted and developed in close cooperation with partner institutions in the region.


Study bridge

The "Studienbrücke" program enables young people from non-EU countries to study at the UA Ruhr directly after leaving school. The focus is on STEM subjects and economics. The program was initiated by the Goethe-Institut and the DAAD in cooperation with the UA Ruhr.

Major cities in Central, Southeast and Eastern Europe

The "Metropolises in Central, South-Eastern and Eastern Europe" scholarship program promotes study-related stays abroad for German students in the region. The aim is to strengthen international mobility, language acquisition and networking. Funding is provided for stays of up to one year, including a language course, internship and accompanying program. The program also offers long-term support from the Studienstiftung as well as access to an established alumni and expert network.

  • one-year stay abroad (minimum duration 7 months - maximum duration 4 semesters)

Partnerships with Eastern Europe

Partnerships with universities in East-Central, South-East and Eastern Europe as well as the Caucasus and Central Asia

The program strengthens long-term professional and regional expertise as well as international teaching and research cooperation between German universities and partners in the target region. Funding is provided for student and academic mobility in both directions within the framework of existing partnerships, including internships. New support will also be provided for exploratory trips for new collaborations, digital exchange formats and mobilities from DAC countries.
