Location & approach

By Car

The campus of Ruhr University Bochum is located near the motorway junction Bochum/Witten, where the A43 connects with the A44. Take the exit Bochum-Querenburg / Universität (exit 19) and follow the signs to “Ruhr-Universität.” Continue on Universitätsstraße and take the turnoff “Uni Mitte” to reach the central campus area.

By Bus & Train

Travel by train to Bochum Central Station. From there, take the underground line U35 towards “Hustadt / Universität” and exit at the stop ‘Ruhr-Universität’. The U35 runs every 5 minutes on weekdays and takes about 9–10 minutes to the university. After exiting the station, cross the pedestrian bridge to reach the campus.

By Plane

The nearest major airport is Düsseldorf Airport (DUS). From the terminal, take the SkyTrain (about 5 minutes) to the airport railway station, then board a regional train (RE) to Bochum Central Station (approximately 30 minutes). From there, take the U35 underground line to “Ruhr-Universität” as described above.

Partner universities

The University Alliance Ruhr (UA Ruhr) is part of the Goethe-Institut's Studienbrücke program. The three universities - Ruhr-Universität Bochum, TU Dortmund University and the University of Duisburg-Essen - are official partner universities of the program. This gives prospective students from abroad the opportunity to be specifically prepared for studying at one of the three UA Ruhr universities and to start a Bachelor's degree course directly.
