What is Study Bridge?

The "Studienbrücke" program was created on the basis of a modification of §49 (5) of the Higher Education Act (HG) in NRW. The aim is to enable direct access to German universities after obtaining a university entrance certificate. Previously, applicants first had to study for a year in their home country or take part in a preparatory year at a preparatory college.
Ruhr-Universität Bochum is one of the five pilot universities that tested innovative models for the recruitment and integration of highly qualified target groups who, under the previous regulations, had no direct access to higher education at German universities as part of Studienstart. This led to the development of the "Studienbrücke" format, in which the universities of the University Alliance Ruhr cooperate with the DAAD and the Goethe-Institut under the leadership of the Ruhr-Universität. The project is coordinated by Elena Resch for the University Alliance Ruhr.
